Destiny is kind of a weird thing. People say that everyone is in control of their own destiny and some say that there is a higher power that helps control the path where your destiny goes. They say that the higher power knows what will happen to you even before you’re born. All of the pieces just fall into place and you will have to make the right decision when you get to that road.

My name is Jeffrey Hunyor and I guess you could say that I wasn’t one of the normal kids around with my sister and brother. You see, we were born as triplets with a birthmark of a dragon on our shoulders. Their names are of course Jason and Jessie and I’m the oldest out of the three while Jason is in the middle and Jessie is the youngest. Growing up, we always felt like there was something different about us, we felt that we had wings and tails behind us and everybody thought that we were weird. We also felt different presences around us as well. And for some reason, the three of us were given dragon names as well. These presences were wild and felt evil and very much alive, but also far away from us. With Jason, however, he liked to cause trouble and mischief. He especially liked getting me in trouble by blaming me for stuff that he did. The three of us liked dragons that our rooms had posters and figurines of them and everybody just made fun of us except for three close friends and of course our parents and older brother and sister. Two of them said that they had the same feeling as well as us. Their names are Paul Bernard and Rachael Gardner. My other friend that was the normal one in the group is Michael Gerk. We also knew that dragons existed because there were three of them that watched over the three of us and we didn’t know why. At first they could only speak in their own language, but after a while they were able to speak ours as well and taught us a few words in their language. Two of them were brothers and the other one was a close friend to them and female. Their names were Karayan, Arnon, and Alvarie. Karayan was a black and gray dragon, Arnon was a white and blue dragon, and Alvarie was a white and pink dragon. It seemed that the three of them were the same age as us as well. The three of us have always wondered why they chose us to be friends with and it only seemed that our parents knew why.

What we didn’t know at the time was that our grandfather on our mom’s side was actually a dragon and that he was a king of the dragons in another realm. We didn’t know anything about it until a week before our eighth birthday. That was when the three of us slowly and painfully started growing scales on our hands and we were both scared out of our minds and amazed. The color of my scales was a medium blue, they had a metallic sheen to them as well, while Jason’s scales were a blood red, and Jessie’s scales was an amethyst purple color. Our parents had taken us out of school and said that we were going on a two week vacation. What we didn’t know was that we were going to the dragon realm and finally meet our grandparents in their dragon forms. Jason and I were heading out of our room when I grabbed my walkman and Bible off our dresser and we went downstairs.

“Mom, where are we going?” I asked.

“And what’s happening to us,” Jason said.

“You will find out soon you two, now we need to go,” our mom said.

We soon got to the front door with Jessie and the others when all of a sudden, a portal opened right up in front of us where the front door was. Our parents just smiled some as they walked through it and our older brother and sister followed in pursuit. We snapped out of our trance and quickly ran after them as the portal closed behind us. What we saw next as we got through the portal was a clearing in a forest and we just looked around it amazed. The forest looked like a montage of colors as the leaves on the different trees ranged from one end of the rainbow to the other as well as all the colors in between. Behind us was a mountain with a waterfall coming off of it and falling into a lake. A mist was coming off the waterfall as well and the sun was shining through it and created a rainbow effect. It was just majestic and there were a few birds flying through the air as well and were chirping. We were just looking around and we soon heard a loud roar and looked up into the sky. What we saw next were two multicolored quadruped dragons flying towards us and land in front of us. One dragon was a bit larger than the other and both were smiling. The larger multicolored dragon was about forty five in length and about fifteen feet in height. It had two white horns on its head and a row of white spikes going down its back. The claws were also white and they just looked like they could cut through steel. The membrane of its wings looked like they were ruby red in color as well and the dragon just folded them down by its body. The smaller multicolored dragon was about forty feet in length and about thirteen feet in height.  It also had two white horns on its head and a row of white spikes going down its back and had white claws. The membrane of its wings was turquoise in color and the dragon folded them up beside its body as well. They were both wearing a medallion with the symbol of a cross on it around their necks and some emerald green clothe was connected to the medallion. Soon three more quadruped dragons landed beside them and they were smaller than them, by a lot. They were about five feet in length each. Mom and dad just smiled as well as mom walked up to the two multicolored dragons and hugged them both.

“Coi ui bensvelk ekess ocuir wux jiil tenamalo,” we heard her say.
(it is good to see you two again)

“Coi ui bensvelk ekess ocuir wux lae algbo danthe,” the bigger dragon said smiling. (it is good to see you as well dear)

Jason, Jessie, and I went wide eyed when mom said this in their language and the bigger dragon answered back and just quickly walked over to them with dad, Stacey, and John. The three of us could only say a few words in the dragon language, thanks to Arnon, Alvarie, and Karayan, but it seemed that mom was fluent in it. The three of us quickly walked over to the smaller dragons and hugged them as well.

“Arnon, so this is where you live,” I said with a smile as I stepped back some.

“No, we live in the castle with the king and queen here,” Arnon said as he pointed his head towards the two bigger dragons.

“Karayan, it’s nice to see you again,” Jason said as he as stepped back as well.

“It’s nice to see you as well Jason,” Karayan said.

“At least your English is improving, you don’t have that lisp anymore, and it’s nice to see you also Alvarie,” Jessie said.

“Yes it is, and it’s nice to see you as well Jessie,” Alvarie said.

We soon turned towards mom and walked towards her and the others were behind us.

“Mom, who are these dragons, and how do you know their language,” I asked.

Mom and dad just laughed some as well as the two larger dragons when I asked this and we just looked at her and back at the two larger dragons with raised eyebrows. They soon calmed down and were just smiling some as mom and dad walked over to us along with John and Stacey.

“Jeff, these two dragons are my parents, your grandparents,” she said.

We just went wide eyed when she said this and soon the two multicolored dragons started to glow some and shrank. They soon stopped glowing and what we saw next were our grandparents standing in the place that the two dragons were just seconds ago. We just smiled some and ran to them and hugged them. They just knelt and hugged us back and they were smiling as well. They soon stood back up smiling and looked over at mom and dad again.

“I take it that they’re changing already,” our grandpa said.

“Yes they are, it just started yesterday with their hands,” dad said.

“Well, we should go back to the castle now,” grandma said.

“Ok,” dad said.

Soon grandpa and grandma started glowing again and soon changed back into their quadruped dragon forms. They motioned for us to climb on their backs and we just smiled. Mom, Stacey, and John got on grandpa’s back and Dad, Jason, Jessie, and I got on grandma’s back. We were soon flying up into the air and Karayan, Arnon, and Alvarie were flying beside us and were smiling as well. The view from the sky was breathtaking as we could see the castle in the distance. After a few minutes of flying, we were over the kingdom and we could see the castle more and it was breathtaking as well. The castle looked like it was built out of different types of stone. Different parts of the castle were different shades because of the different types of stone used. When we got closer to the castle, it looked like the pillars that could be seen from the outside looked like they were made out of marble. When we got closer to the castle, we could see what looked like serpentine like dragons carved into the pillars and were going around them and breathing fire. We soon landed behind the wall surrounding the castle and we were in the outside courtyard and there were statues of different sized dragons around the courtyard. We soon slid off of grandma as the others slid off of grandpa and we just started looking around the courtyard. Jason, Jessie, and I started smiling as the three of us just started running from one statue to the other and just looking at every detail on every statue.

“Hey what are you guys doing here,” we heard a female voice say behind us.

We turned around and saw Rachael and Paul come walking towards us smiling. What we saw next was two emerald green dragons and two dark blue dragons walking up behind them along with both of their parents. I just smiled widely as I ran to them and when I got to them, I noticed that Paul had emerald green scales on his hands and Rachael had light blue scales on her hands. Her scales looked like they were an aquamarine color. I was just as amazed at this as they were when they saw the scales on my hands. Soon Jessie and Jason came over smiling and they saw Rachael’s and Paul’s hands and were also amazed by it. We soon started talking about different things while the two emerald green dragons and the two dark blue dragons went over to my grandparents and started talking with them. Rachael’s and Paul’s parents did the same thing as well. We soon separated and started looking around again and I was looking at a statue that was near some bushes when I heard something move around it. I looked at the bush and saw it move some and I cautiously walked over to it. As soon as I got to the bush, I saw a red and gold blur jump out of it and tackle me. I hit the ground with a loud thud and a groan and everybody just looked at me when this happened.

“What just hit me,” I said as I opened my eyes.

What I saw next was a small red dragon on top of me and looking right at me with gold eyes. The scales that were under him were a bright gold color instead of red. He had two black horns on the top of his head and his claws were black as well. The membrane of his wings was also a bright red. The dragon was just looking at me with curiosity in its eyes and started sniffing me some.

“Svaust re wux,” he said.
             (who are you)

For some strange reason I could understand what he said this time. It was like something clicked in my head just now when he tackled me. I just looked at him curiously and smiled some.

“Vallen, petranas itrewic stoda di jacion,” grandpa said.
                     (please get off of him)

“Shar svaust ui jaci sire,” Vallen said as he looked up at grandpa.
             (but who is he sire)

"Batobot ui sia autgabin Adeodatus,” grandpa said.
        (that is my grandson)

Vallen went wide eyed when grandpa said this and just looked back at me and soon noticed the scales on my hands and quickly got off. Paul and Jason came over to us and helped me up off the ground. Vallen looked like he was about a few inches shorter than Arnon, Alvarie, and Karayan. We soon heard the bush moving again and saw five more quadruped dragons come out of the bush nervously and stand next to Vallen. They all looked like they were the same size of Vallen but different colors. One dragon had red scales and green scutes, and had four white horns on his head, the bottom two being the bigger ones while the top two being smaller. He also had white claws as well. His red scales were a deep red, almost like a magenta color. The membrane of his wings was a deep red as well. The second dragon had what looked like blue fur but I knew it was actually scur as I got a bit closer look at it as he had brown breastplates. His wing membranes were also brown in color as he had orange spikes coming out of the end of his tail and had orange spikes going down his back. He also had what looked like a bit of an orange mane on the top of his head as I blinked a little at that as he had orange claws as well. The third dragon had black scales with navy blue scutes and had three lines of scales on its face that were navy blue as well. He had four white horns coming out the back of his head, two being big and the two under them being small and his claws were also white. He also had navy blue strips going down his back as well. The membrane of his wings was also a navy blue in color and the arms and fingers of the wings were covered in black scales. The fourth dragon was covered in black fur instead of scales and had red fur underneath it. He had two horns on his head and a row of spikes going down his back and they looked like they were a dull yellow along with his claws. His fur didn’t look matted at all, but smooth and had a shine to it. It also looked like it could’ve been as soft as alpaca fur, maybe even softer. The membrane of his wings was also a dull yellow in color and the arms and fingers of his wings were covered in shiny black fur. The fifth dragon looked like it had dark blue scales all over its body, almost black, and had red markings all over its body. He had two smoke gray horns coming out the back of his head as well. His claws were also a smoke gray color. The membrane of his wings was a dark blue, almost black; color as well and also had some red markings on them. Rachael and Jessie soon came over to us and were just smiling some.

“Hey grandpa, who are these dragons,” I asked as I turned towards grandpa.

“These five are orphan dragons that we took in Adeodatus,” he said.

“What are their names,” Jason asked.

“Well, the one that tackled Adeodatus is Vallen, the blue and brown one is Aracaris, the magenta and green dragon is Shrike, the black and navy blue dragon is Crytos, the dark blue dragon with the red markings is Altair and the furry dragon is Betruga. Betruga is a rare type of dragon as well, being the only dragon that has fur instead of scales,” Grandpa said.

“That’s interesting,” Paul said.

Vallen and the others soon looked back at us and noticed that Jessie, Rachael, Paul, and Jason also had scales on their hands and went wide eyed again. We all just smiled some as Arnon, Karayan, and Alvarie came over to them and started talking to them in their own language. They all just started laughing some as they started running around playing with each other. Soon mom, dad, grandpa, grandma, and the other four dragons came over to us and they motioned to follow them into the castle. They soon walked into the castle and we followed closely behind them while Arnon, Karayan, Alvarie, and the other five small dragons just stayed outside playing. When we got inside the castle, we were just amazed by the way it looked. The carvings of different dragons in the walls were so intricate that they almost looked like they would jump out at us at any minute. They looked like they were made out of marble as well as different types of other stones. We took a closer look at the carvings and the detail was just amazing. They looked like they weren’t even carved; there wasn’t a single tool mark on them, they just looked like they were as smooth as glass after it was made into a sculpture by a sculptor who had been practicing for years. The carvings also looked like they just appeared there instead of being carved into the stone. As we walked down the halls of the castle, we saw different dragons standing guard every few yards. There were so many different ones that we lost count. There were anthro dragons, quadruped dragons, and even dragontaurs standing guard. They also looked like they had armor on that were different colors. Each dragon guard we saw had armor that matched their own colors and it was just amazing. We even saw what looked like gryphons, from quadruped to anthro to grphontaur.

We even saw a gryphon that looked like it was part dragon. The lower half was covered in scales and looked like the standards for a dragon with the feet, the claws, and the classic dragon tail. The scales looked like they were a deep brown. The upper half had the classic gryphon look to it. It had the wings of the gryphon, which were eagle wings and were a light brown color with some cream white color to them as well. The fur was a light brown as well and looked like the fur of a lion. The face looked like the face of an eagle as well but it had teeth inside of its beak and a thin and split tongue like a dragon. Another gryphon we saw looked just like the other one, with the lower dragon half and all and the scales were a deep red in color. The wings however looked like they were dragon wings instead of gryphon wings and the membrane was also a deep read as well. The fur looked like it was a deep red as well but was a few shades brighter than the scales. The face however had a beak of a gryphon, but instead of being covered in fur, it was covered in deep red scales. The eyes of both gryphon/dragon hybrids had the dragon look to them because the pupils of their eyes were slit. We just stared in awe and wonder as we continued walking down the halls looking at each of the dragon and gryphon guards. Some of them even looked at us and just smiled softly and that just made us smile as we ran and caught up with grandpa and grandma and everybody else. We soon came across two large doors that looked like they were made out of gold and silver. The doors were also incrusted with different types of jewels going all around them. There were sapphires, garnets, topaz, amethyst crystals, citrine, celestite, emeralds, rubies, aquamarine crystals, and even diamonds that went around the sides of the doors. There were two dragontaurs standing guard at the doors as well.

“Grandpa, what’s behind those doors,” Jessie asked and everybody just stopped as grandpa looked at the doors and back at us.

“Behind those doors lies the great library, it is where we keep the history of our species and keep all of our rare books Amarachi,” grandpa said.

“Can we go in there and look at them,” Jason asked.

“Not right now Krishna, we will show you the great library later, but as for now, we are to get you settled in because of your transformation,” grandma said.

I could hear Jason grumble some because he wanted to go into the library and look around. My best guess was he only wanted to go in there and cause trouble again and try to blame me for it. We were soon led to a small hallway were a series of doors went down both sides. Grandpa and grandma told us that this was the living quarters for us and we each got our own room. Jason, Jessie, Paul, Rachael, and I just smiled as we each went to a door that was next to each other and just opened them. When I opened the door to the room that I choose, I was amazed by the detail of it. The room looked like it was completely blue with different paintings of different dragons in different settings hanging up all over the walls of the room. Each wall looked like it was a different color of blue, a shade darker than the last. I laid my stuff down on the bed and just started looking at the paintings. In one painting there was a sapphire blue dragon lying down by a lake that had a waterfall falling into it. There were trees all around the lake and the leaves were just a multitude of colors. Sitting in the branches of the trees were small birds and it looked like they were just looking at the dragon with curiosity. There were even a few birds sitting on the back of the dragon as well and were chirping. The painting even had a couple birds flying around the dragon. There were also leaves that were falling from the trees and it made the painting look like it was in the fall. In the top part of the background where the waterfall was coming off the mountain, there was sunlight glaring off of it and glaring off the water as well and it looked like it was sparkling and that just added to the splendor of the painting.

Another picture had a ruby red dragon flying over a mountain top and what looked like the dragon was breathing a small stream of fire and smoke was coming off of the stream of fire. The mountain looked awe inspiring as there were trees going all around it with different colored leaves on each tree and the trees stopped a little over half way up the mountain and snow just started where the trees stopped. The painting looked like it was during the daytime and there were small clouds all over the place and you could see the clear blue sky. In part of the painting, it looked like the sun was starting to set because there were different colors in the sky and you can only see those colors in a sunrise and a sunset. In another painting, there were two full grown dragons laying down beside each other and a smaller dragon laying across one of the dragons front paws and just looking up at the two larger dragons and the two larger dragons just looking down at it smiling. I took a closer look at that painting and it looked like the smaller dragon was smiling as well as it was looking at the two larger dragons. It also looked like the smaller dragon was no more than just a couple of weeks old and what struck me as odd was that the three dragons in the painting were all multicolored dragons and had white horns and spikes. The membrane of their wings was also a ruby red color and the smaller dragon almost looked exactly like grandpa, only smaller and younger. The back ground in that painting was one of what looked like the outer court yard that we were in early because there was a stone wall behind the dragons and of course there was grass and trees all around them and in the corner of the painting was part of a statue. As I continued looking at the paintings, I was amazed by the detail of the scales on the dragons. The shadowing effect that the painter did on the scales and the wings made the dragons look so real and lifelike that it seemed that they were about ready to jump out of the paintings and start walking around and talk to me. The eyes of the dragons were also very detailed as well as I looked at them closer and it looked like they could just tell stories of their life and the adventures they had by just staring eye to eye with you.

After I got done looking at the paintings, I looked at the bed and noticed that it looked like it was a queen sized bed and was about the same height as my bed at home. I also noticed that there was a full length mirror facing the bed on the other side of the bed room. The sheets on the bed looked like they were blue as well. The bedspread had three different colors of blue on it in squares and looked like a pattern going side to side, light, medium, and dark, all the way down the bedspread. I just walked over to the bed and just jumped on and lied there, staring up at the ceiling. What struck me as odd was that there were no lights in the room, only some strange glowing rocks that hung from the ceiling that was just emitting a white light. I just stared at it for what seemed like forever when I heard a knock on my door and I just sat up. The door opened and I saw Stacey and John walk in and look around.

“Wow, this is some room that you picked Jeff,” Stacey said as she looked at the paintings.

“Yeah, it is, and I can’t believe that there are so many paintings of dragons in here,” John said.

“I know, well what do you expect when we came here guys,” I said smiling as I just sat on the bed.

“Well, we should get to our own rooms now,” Stacey said as she and John left the room.

“Okay,” I said as John closed the door behind him.

I just lied back down on the bed and looked back up at the ceiling and just smiled some. Pretty soon I felt some pain in my right hand and just shot back up in a sitting position and looked at it. I saw two small slits forming in the back of my hand and saw two metallic blue scales come out of them. I just cringed when they were coming out and soon the pain subsided when they were done coming out. I just sighed and wished that this would be over soon so I wouldn’t be in so much pain when the transformation reached its climax on our birthday. I just grabbed my walkman and put my headphones on and hit the play button. I had my Michael W. Smith tape in there and I just lied back down on the bed and just listened to it. I had brought a few other tapes with me to listen to as well. Most of them were tapes of the beach boys and our dad had always listened to the oldies station whenever we went into town. While I was listening to my walkman, I started to hear some scratching noises coming from the door. I sat up and turned my walkman off and just got off the bed and walked to the door and opened it.  I looked around and didn’t see anyone and I just looked down at the floor and saw Arnon looking up at me smiling.

“Hey Arnon, what are you doing here, and where are the others,” I asked as I let him in and looked around some more.

“I came to see how you liked your room and Karayan went to see Jason while Alvarie went to see Jessie. The others are still in the court yard playing some,” Arnon said as he came in and went over to the bed and jumped on.

I just smiled as I closed the door and went over to the bed and sat down next to Arnon.

“Hey Arnon, can I ask you something,” I said as I looked at him.

“Sure Jeff, what is it,” he said as he looked at me.

“Why aren’t you, Karayan, and Alvarie calling us by our dragon names like our grandfather does,” I asked him.

“I guess your human names are how we came to know you by when we first met the three of you,” he said.

“That makes sense,” I said.

I soon lied back down on the bed again and just picked up my bible and started reading it. Arnon just lied down as well and I soon picked up my walkman again and started listening to it. I just soon fell asleep I guess, cause the next thing I knew, I woke up with my bible on my chest and Arnon lying across my legs, sleeping as well. I just smiled some as I just watched him sleeping and soon heard a knock at my door. I slowly sat up to make sure not to wake Arnon up and looked at the door and saw it open and mom poke her head in. When she saw me sitting up, she smiled softly and came inside.

“It’s about time you woke up Jeff,” she said as she came over to the bed.

“How long have I been asleep,” I asked.

“For about three hours now,” she said as she sat down on the bed, careful as to not accidentally sit on Arnon’s tail.

“That long, I guess I was tired,” I said smiling.

Arnon soon started moving some as he lifted his head up and yawned and looked at me and smiled. Mom and I just laughed some when he yawned and he soon got up off of me and we all got up. We just followed mom down the giant hallway and soon got to what looked like a giant dining hall with a very large and long table in the center of the room. The table looked like it was made out of oak or cedar and was polished and was very detailed in almost every fashion. The legs of the table looked like quadruped dragons just sitting there with the top part of the table on their heads. On the table was a ton of cooked food as well as fruit and vegetables of every kind. I recognized some of the fruit and vegetables on the table, but there were some that I didn’t recognize at all. Some of the fruit looked like they were a bright yellow, but had red spots all over them and was round and looked like an orange. Another fruit looked like they were in the shape of an apple but was a dark blue and had bright purple stripes on them. They smelled delicious and looked delicious as well. Arnon and I looked up at mom and she just nodded some as the three of us walked over to the table. Soon we could hear the others come into the dining room and Jason, Jessie, Paul, and Rachael all ran over to me and were smiling. Karayan and Alvarie were right behind them as well as Vallen and the other five dragons. Soon grandpa and grandma came walking in with the two green dragons and the two dark blue dragons that we saw earlier when Paul and Rachael got here.

“Hey Paul, Rachael, are those dragons your grandparents,” I asked.

“Yeah, the two emerald green dragons are my grandparents,” Paul said.

“And the two dark blue ones are mine,” Rachael said smiling.

“That’s cool, I bet you already guessed who our grandparents are,” Jessie said.

“Yeah, they’re the two multicolored ones,” Paul said.

“As well as the king and queen of this place, but something has been bothering us,” Rachael said.

“And what’s that,” Jason said who had taken an apple off the table and had taken a bite out of it.

“Why are the three of you growing just one color of scales instead of different colored scales,” Paul said.

When Paul said that, Jessie, Jason, and I just looked at our hands where our scales were and looked over at grandpa and grandma.

“We haven’t really thought of that, but something has been bugging me as well,” I said.

“And what’s that Jeff,” Paul said.

“I know why Jason, Jessie, and I are growing scales, because of our birthday being at the end of the week, but why are you two growing scales, your birthdays are later in the year,” I said.

“We don’t really know, but it just started yesterday and our parents took us out of school and said that we were going to be gone for a couple of weeks,” Rachael said.

“Same with ours,” Jason said as he took another bite of his apple.

“Hey Paul, Rachael, what are your dragon names,” Jessie asked.

“My dragon name is Shekinah,” Rachael said smiling.

“And my dragon name is Cyriacus,” Paul said smiling.

We just kept talking about different stuff until grandpa and grandma and the others came over to the table and Jason got a bit nervous when grandpa just looked at him eating the apple and Jason just swallowed the piece that was in his mouth and smiled weakly. Grandpa smiled some as he shook his head and just went over to the table with everybody else and we just followed them and sat down in the chairs. Grandpa and Grandma shifted into their anthro forms as well as Rachael’s grandparents and Paul’s grandparents. Jason, Jessie, and I sat next to each other and Arnon, Karayan, and Alvarie sat on either side of us in their own chairs. Vallen, Betruga, Jay, Altair, Shrike, and Crytos sat opposite of us and just smiled some. We smiled back and Rachael and Paul were sitting on either side of them. We were soon passing around the food. We all went wide eyed a little bit when we got our portions and we just closed our eyes as grandpa said grace and we soon started eating dinner.
