Ever wondered if dragons existed or still exist in the world. If the stories youheard while growing up were real instead of fantasy, myth, and legend, wouldn't you want to meet and befriend a dragon or even become one. Well here's what happened when three kids found a wounded dragon while on vacation and befriended it. As soon as they did this, their lives changed forever along with their seven friends when they were given eight different colored sones with the souls of dragons in them. The eight stones even carried some of the most powerful dragons that ever lived. The name of the three kids that found the dragon is Rachael, Jeff, and Tommy. Jeff and Tommy are cousins and Rachael is one of their closest friends. Jeff and Rachael practically did everything together, whether it was with their other friends or by themselves. The reason they did so much together was because they were neighbors. Tommy lived a few blocks away from them and tried to get together with them whenever he could. Most of the time Jeff and Rachael would hang out with Paul and Kim, Paul was Jeff's closest friend and Kim was Rachael's closeset friend. Paul and Kim lived about a block away from Jeff and Rachael and they always got together on the weekend and after school. Their parents also knew each other because their fathers were in the army together. The other five friends are Jake, Amber, Matt, Katie, and Tina. Now of course they all went to the same school and usually hung out with each other during and after school as much as possible. The one thing that they all have in common was that they all collected dragons. They even wore little dragon pendants all the time along with crosses. The only thing that was different about them was their collections of dragons. Tommy and Tiina both liked anthro dragons. Jake, Matt, Amber, and Katie liked dragontaurs. Paul and Kim on the other hand liked dragons that just walked on all fours. Jeff and Rachael both liked all three types of dragons and collected almost every kind possible. Jeff, Paul, Tommy, Kim, and Rachael also took a karate class growing up and were pretty good at it.
That is where Matt and the others met them when they were about nine years old. Matt usually took taekwondo as well and taught the others some moves. Matt's parents were his teachers in that class and that was their jobs. When they found out that they had the same interest, they became the best of friends. Tommy and Tina even started hanging out as well because they found out that they lived on the same street. At school they were even called the dragon crew and that stuck with them. The story begins when school had gotten out for the summer and they were all ten years old at the time. Jeff's parents were taking him and Tommy up to the lake for their yearly summer vacation. Jeff's older brother didn't go because he went to camp for the summer and his older sister moved out of the house the year before. Jeff's parents said that Tommy could come and he could bring three friends. Matt and Jake couldn't come because they went to a football camp. Amber, Katie, and Tina went to a softball camp also that summer. Jeff was a bit disappointed when he found out that Paul and Kim both had caught the summer flu. He was glad that Rachael didn't have any plans for that summer or had gotten sick. She had to get permission from her parents and they gave the go ahead. They all lived up in Alaska and it has some very beautiful sights. There are mountains as far as the eye can see. The cabin that they were going to was by Bear Lake and were mountains around it. Jeff's family also owned the cabin, because they had just come into a small family fortune when Jeff's grandparents died. They always made the trip down there in their motor home. On the way to the cabin Rachael was very quiet and did very little talking during the trip. Jeff decided to break the silence.
"Is something wrong, Rachael?" Jeff asked.
"Yea, you've been quiet for practically the whole trip," Tommy said.
"It's nothing really," Rachael said.
"Come on you can tell us," Jeff said.
"I just found out that my parents and I are moving," Rachael said.
"How come you're moving?" Tommy said shocked.
"It's because we're still in the military, my dad got orders to relocate," Rachael said.
"Relocate to where?" Jeff asked.
"To some base down in California," Rachael said and she was starting to cry.
"We're going to miss you," Jeff's mom chimed in.
"Same here, your dad and I have been friends since we were kids. We're just glad that your parents let you come," Jeff's dad said.
"Now finish up your bible studies like you promised, okay," Jeff's mom said.
Rachael wiped her tears away and smiled softly as she said thanks. They all soon finished studying their bible lessons and decided to play some go fish and they all had a fun time and were laughing the rest of the ride there. When they got to the cabin at around 11:30, Jeff, Rachael, and Tommy decided to have some fun on the beach. The sight that they saw was very breathtaking and looked like something out of a movie. The beach was clean and sparkling from the sun shining down on the sand. The water in the lake was also clean and clear and the sunlight was reflecting off of it and that created something wonderful. The forest around the lake was untouched by mankind and that only added to the wonder of nature and they thought that it should be left that way. The mountains also added to the spectacular sight with snow still on the very top of the mountains. They could also see fish jumping out of the lake every so often and some eagles flying by and swooping down to catch the fish out of the lake. They even saw some other birds flying around the lake and all of that made the scenery seem mystic. Their idea to go swimming was cut short when Jeff's parents reminded them that they had to help unload the moter home and the boat. That alone took about a half an hour and they were starting to get pretty hungry. Jeff's mom had made sandwiches for lunch and they enjoyed it very much. Jeff, Rachael, and Tommy spent practically all day playing on the beach and in the water until it was supper time. They were all exhausted from building sand castles to having water fights and were very hungry as well. Jeff's dad was cooking hamburgers on the grill when they came back to the cabin and went in the cabin to get changed. During supper they were all talking about different things.
"Thanks for letting me come, Mr. Hunyor. This place is very wonderful," Rachael said.
"It's no problem; it's the least we could do, Rachael. I also know what you mean, this place does have a very mystic feeling to it," Mr. Hunyor said.
"At least we won't go hungry," Tommy said.
"Very funny, Tommy. Now finish eating, you three still need to practice your karate," Mrs. Hunyor said.
"Okay," they all said at once.
Jeff, Rachael, and Tommy finished eating supper and started to practice their karate moves and spent about an hour at it. While they were practicing, Jeff was thrown right onto his rear end by Tommy.
"Hey Jeff, how come you're not putting that much effort into practicing right now?" Tommy said.
"I'm just feeling bad about Paul and Kim not being able to make it," Jeff said.
"I know what you mean, they really wanted to come with us," Rachael said.
"Yeah, we were all bummed when we found out that they both caught the flu," Tommy said.
"Well, those two always have to do stuff together, even if it means getting sick together," Jeff said and they all started laughing at what he said.
"Well, the five of us always did stuff together, now it went up to the ten of us," Tommy said.
"Now it's going to be the nine of you when we get back," Rachael said.
"We're really going to miss you," Jeff said.
"Thanks Jeff," Rachael said.
"Hopefully you'll be able to stay long enough so that we can get our purple belts together," Tommy said.
"So do I, but I don't know if I'll be able to attend the karate tournament that's coming up soon afterward," Rachael said.
"Hey Tommy, can you give me a hand," Jeff said.
"Sure," Tommy said.
When Tommy grabbed Jeff's hand, Jeff smiled and pulled on it and went onto his back. Tommy soon came falling down towards Jeff and Jeff pushed his feet into Tommy's stomach and sent Tommy flying onto the ground. Tommy landed with a groan and just looked up at Jeff and Rachael. Jeff got back up onto his feet and went over to help Tommy up. Jeff was smiling the whole time while Rachael was laughing at the whole scene. Jeff's parents saw the whole thing and also chuckled a bit as they went inside.
"What was that for," Tommy said.
"That was for knocking me on my butt," Jeff said.
"So are we even now," Tommy said as he dusted off his pants.
"Yes we are," Jeff said with a smile still on his face.
They finished practicing their karate before Jeff's parents came back outside and started a fire in the fire pit. Jeff's mom brought out the roasting sticks and marshmallows. It was already getting close to night time out and the timing was just perfect. They rushed over to the fire and started roasting marshmallows and having fun making s'mores while Jeff's dad told ghost stories all night. Jeff's dad saved the best story for last and he was using his deep sounding voice that he always used for telling stories. When the sun was beginning to set, they all heard what seemed like roars in the distance and Jeff's dad said that it was probably a bear or two and went back to telling his last story. While Jeff, Tommy, and Rachael were engrossed in the story, they didn't notice that Jeff's mom had left the campfire. The story that was being told was about a psychotic serial killer that escaped from a nearby mental ward ten years ago and would wait for his next victims to come to the very cabin that they were staying in. The killer would wear a hackey mask and use a machete to torture his victims with before he killed them.
"And they say that this man is still living somewhere in these woods to this very day waiting for his next victims," Jeff's dad said.
As soon as he said this, Jeff's mom jumped out of the bushes wearing a hockey mask and carrying a fake machete in her hand. Jeff, Rachael, and Tommy all screamed when this happened and Jeff's dad just burst out laughing and so did his mom as she took off the mask. They started to laugh as well when they found out that it was Jeff's mom wearing the mask.
"Okay kids, it's time for the three of you to go to bed now," Jeff's mom said.
"Do we have to," Jeff said.
"Yes you do, it's already after 10:00 and we had a really long day today," his dad said.
"Okay," they all said at once and got up.
"They went inside the cabin as Jeff's parents put the fire out and cleaned up afterwards and soon followed the kids inside. While they were brushing their teeth, Jeff's dad thought that he would give them one more good scare before going to bed himself and put the hockey mask on and waited by the bathroom. When they came out, Jeff's dad jumped out and scared them so much that Jeff's mom came running in. She quickly slapped Jeff's dad upside the head with her hand. He started rubbing the back of his head as Jeff and the others started to laugh at the scene. Even his mom was chuckling a little bit at it. As soon as they calmed down, Jeff, Tommy, and Rachael went to bed. Rachael slept in one room while Jeff and Tommy slept in another room. The room that Tommy and Jeff stayed in had a bunk bed in it because Jeff and his older brother stayed in there.
"Hey Jeff," Tommy said.
"Yes Tommy," Jeff said as he opened his eyes.
"What did you guys want to do tomorrow," Tommy said.
"Well, we could go exploring around the lake tomorrow morning after breakfast," Jeff said.
"Your parents won't mind that we go out there alone," Tommy said.
"No, they will probably just make sure that we have a cell phone with us and tell us to stay safe," Jeff said.
"That's cool, well good night," Tommy said.
"Good night, Tommy," Jeff said.
When they were done talking they soon fell asleep and went into dream land. Jeff's dream was very different that night. He was dreaming that he was flying thru the air. The sun was just starting to set in the horizon. He looked at his back and saw that he had wings on his back and these were no ordinary wings. The wings that he saw were dragon wings and they were white with a dark blue membrane. He soon landed by a body of water and looked at his reflection in the water. He notced that his whole body was white and looked like the scales were whiter than snow. The scales on his underbelly were a lighter blue in color and he only saw that color in glaciers around Alaska. The claws on his paws were the same color of light blue. He took a closer look at his head and saw two light blue horns on the top of his head with dark blue fur in between the horns going from his head down to his neck. Light blue spikes started where the fur ended and went all the way down to the tip of his tail where a patch of dark blue fur was as well. He also noticed that he had a bag full of eight different colored stones in his mouth. Pretty soon he heard the roars of other dragons and looked up into the sky and saw five different dragons flying towards him. He noticed that there was something different about these dragons. They were each surrounded by a dark aura and their eyes looked like they were just emitting pure darkness. He took a closer look at their eyes and briefly saw them shift. It looked like they were crying out for help but just couldn't verbalize their cries for help. Jeff soon took flight again and tried his best to out fly the dragons but didn't succeed. The dragons came on top of him and started to attack him for no reason at all. They slawed at him and tried to get the bag that he had his mouth. He held onto it as tightly as he could while trying not to scream out in pain from being clawed at by the other dragons. He decided to hold the bag of sones in his claws so he could use his fire breath.
He tried to think of what to do to get the dragons off of him when an idea came to mind. He wnet into a spiral and all of the other dragons backed off. Jeff stopped the spiral and turned around and used his hire breath on two of them. The two dragons went down and hit the water with a loud splash. He turned around and tried to use his fire breath again on the other three dragons. Instead of breathing fire this time, he let out a breath of ice and froze one of the wings of two other dragons and they plummeted down into the water as well. He was very surprised that he could breathe both fire and ice. Jeff tried to locate the other dragon with no such luck. Soon he felt a weight on his back and started going down. He looked up and saw the fifth and final dragon on his back. This dragon was clawing at his wings and put gashes in them with his claws. Jeff couldn't do any of his breath attacks and closed his eyes to try to think of what to do. Pretty soon he heard the other dragon roar in pain and quickly opened his eyes. He noticed that electricity was moving around him freely and the other dragon was plummeting down to the body of water with small amounts of electricity foming from his body. Jeff was both surprised and thankful that he could do an electric attack around his body as well as breathe fire and ice. He put the bag of stones backin his mouth and started flying again. Pretty soon he was near the ground on a different part of the lake and soon recognized where he was. He was at Bear Lake near where the cabin was where they were staying. He looked around and saw a cave nearby and started to limp towards it. He hoped that the five dragons didn't follow him as he went insde the cave. When he was far enough inside the cave, he dropped the bag of stones, lied down, and went to sleep. He was soon awakened by Tommy's voice.
"Hey, Jeff, you're going to miss out on breakfast if you don't get up soon," Tommy said.
Jeff jolted up from his bed in a bit of a cold sweat. He looked around and saw that he was back in the cabin.
"Morning sleepyhead," Rachael said with a smile.
"Morning," Jeff said.
"How come you slept in, you're usually the first one up," Tommy said.
"Sorry, I was having a weird dream," Jeff said.
"What was it about," Rachael said.
"I'll tell you about it later, right now I just want to go eat breakfast. Plus the last one down there has to help my mom do the dishes," Jeff said as he jumped out of bed and ran out the door.
Tommy and Rachael followed in pursuit and they were all laughing the whole time. Jeff ran down the stairs and into the kitchen. He was the first one to get to the table while Rachael got there second. Tommy was disappointed that he was the last one to get to the table and both Jeff and Rachael just laughed at it. Jeff's dad was sitting at the end of the table reading the newspaper and laughed a little also when he saw this. Jeff's mom was busy cooking breakfast and laughed a little when she saw Tommy pouting that he was the last one to the table. She was making French toast and scrambled eggs for breakfast along with hash browns and bacon. While they were eating breakfast, Jeff asked if they could go for a walk around the lake after they finished eating. His parents said yes, but to be careful and to come back by that afternoon. His mom handed Jeff a cell phone to use in case of emergencies or to say if they were going to be late coming back to the cabin. When breakfast was over, Tommy was forced to help his aunt clean up the table and do the dishes. Jeff and Rachael went upstairs to get ready to go exploring around the lake. They were laughing a bit when they saw Tommy help Jeff's mom do the dishes while they went upstairs. They both wore their swimsuits under their clothes in case they went into the water and got their beach towels as well. When they came back downstairs, Jeff's mom and Tommy were just finishing up doing the dishes. When they got done, Tommy ran upstairs and chnged quickly and grabbed his beach towel as well. They also got a couple of bags in case they saw some seashells that they liked and some water bottles to drink in case they got thirsty on the walk around the lake.
They soon said goodbye to Jeff's mom as they raced out of the front door and passed by his dad when they were outside. Jeff's dad was working on the boat to double check to see if everything was okay with it. He told them to be careful out there and to watch out for wild animals. They said okay and gave him a thumbs up sign and started walking towards the beach. They just started walking and talking about different things and picked up some seashells that were in pretty good condition. Pretty soon they came to a clearing that was nearby a cave. They split up and just started looking around for anything that looked interesting, Like seashells, odd looking rocks, and the occasional tree branch that looked weird. They were still talking about different things while looking around. When Jeff was looking around, he spotted what looked like red food coloring on the ground. He bent down to take a closer look and saw that it was blood leading to the cave.
"Hey guys, look what I found," Jeff said.
"What did you find Jeff," Tommy said.
"It looks like a blood trail," Jeff said.
"Where does it lead to?" Rachael said.
"It looks like it goes into the cave, Rachael," Tommy said.
"I don't think we should go in there, Tommy. There could be a wounded animal in there," Rachael said, with a hint of worry in her voice.
"It could be, but it could also be an injured person in there," Jeff said.
They were soon standing in front of the cave and were wondering if they should go in there or not.
"Is there anybody in there," Jeff said.
They soon heard heavy breathing coming from inside the cave and Rachael was starting to get scared by it.
"I don't like this, Jeff, it's just too creepy," Rachael said.
"Well, I'm going in there to see if whoever is in there is alright," Jeff said.
"Same here," Tommy said.
"I'm not staying out here by myself," Rachael said.
They all decided to walk into the cave together to see if whoever or whatever was in there was alright. When they got closer to the heavy breathing, they saw a dragon lying there in the middle of the cave. Their eyes just about popped out of their heads when they saw the thirty foot creature lying in front of them. They also noticed the the dragon was wounded when they got a bit closer to it. The dragon just looked at them and started to smile a little.
"Don't worry children, I'm not going to hurt you," the dragon said.
